Oasis500 CEO attends the launch of the Center for Excellence for Smarter Logistics in Dubai, U.A.E

Mr. Yousef Hamiddadin attended the launch of the Center for Excellence for Smarter Logistics – Innovation, Engagement and Impact on December 8 by the American University in Dubai and IBM. Prior to the launch, Mr. Hamiddadin was invited to participate in a half-day inaugural workshop to discuss the most effective engagement model for the Center.

The Center of Excellence aims to become a recognized global center for Smarter Logistics and to strengthen Dubai’s leadership position through smarter logistics solutions with reduced ecological footprint. This will be done by; first, producing essential knowledge specialists for governments and industries; and second, developing innovative and collaborative environments that will intersect logistics studies with a mid-term focus on Dubai Expo 2020.

Oasis500 will leverage the opportunities created by the Center for Excellence with an aim to nurture the most creative and forward-thinking technology start-ups from the region to meet the demand for a green economy.

 

Oasis500 participates in Entrepreneur Day by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority

Oasis500 attended The Entrepreneur Day by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) tech startups pitching competition on November 16th in Dubai, were we scouted and networked with startups. Two winning teams were selected, one from the Technology category and one from the Technology Islamic Economy category.

Oasis500 attends Banque Du Liban Accelerate event in Beirut

Oasis500 attended the Banque Du Liban Accelerate, Lebanon’s 1st International Startup Conference, which took place in Beirut, Lebanon on November 20-21.

53 Speakers from 20 different international cities were present representing 48 international companies. The Oasis500 team conducted a financing and investment workshop on ‘Growing your Startup’ to help rising startups understand the investment ecosystem in the MENA region. The team sought deal flow by scouting potential candidates.

Oasis500 participates in the judging committee for Startup Baku, Azerbaijan

The investment team at Oasis500 attended Startup Baku, which toke place in Baku, Azerbaijan on November 21-23. The Baku Weekend event brought together people with different skill sets – primarily software developers, graphic designers and business people – where they pitched their startup ideas and sought feedback from their peers. Oasis500 was invited to participate in the event to mentor and provide critical feedback to entrepreneurs.

Oasis500 participates in Turner Innovation Summit

Oasis500 participated in an Innovation Summit on October 1- 3, 2014 held by Turner, a North America-based, international construction services company. The Summit brought together a diverse group of representatives from industry organizations to share and collaborate on best practices, engage with each other, and leverage their collective knowledge to drive innovation. The Turner Innovation Summit focused on practical improvements, emerging technologies and process solutions, with topics that range from 3D printing, and modularization to lean process improvement, project collaboration and the application of advanced technologies for better project results in areas of cost, quality and safety.

Mr. Yousef Hamiddadin engaged in discussions on Omraan, a global startup competition run in partnership with New Cities Foundation aimed at finding and developing the world’s best urban technology ideas to tackle urban challenges. The discussion entailed exploring opportunities to partner with Turner and involve them in nurturing the most creative and forward-thinking technology start-ups from across the globe, and develop their ideas into concrete projects in Middle Eastern cities, for the benefit of cities worldwide.
