Celebrate, Empower and Support Women in Business Worldwide
AMMAN, Jordan – November 5, 2016 WED is the largest movement to celebrate, support and empower women across 144 countries. In partnership with Oasis500, WED MENA took place on the 5th of November in Oasis500 premise at King Hussein Business Park. Three-hundred Participants had the chance to take part in business development sessions, learn from inspirational women, and network with women leaders across the region.
Forty-five Speakers and Panelists from Jordan and the region lively exchanged ideas and gave useful insights about businesswomen and their active role in society. WED Ambassadors and delegations from Lebanon, UAE, KSA, and Palestine participated, as well as WED regional Ambassador Ms. Sara Alayed and WED founder & President Ms. Wendy Diamond. During the Regional Ambassador speech, Ms. Sara Alayed announced that WED is working on a 10 million dollar fund for women run startups in MENA.
Throughout the event, WED redefined “entrepreneurship”: an entrepreneur is not only the person who starts a business… it is someone who takes a risk and joins a startup.. is an employee who takes ownership over their work and takes that extra mile… is the teacher that helps students comes up with their own solutions and thoughts… is the female athlete who in-spite of the social challenges, made it… is anyone who does not settle, who seeks knowledge, who keeps on reinventing herself…
Hence, WED announced launching the “Rerurnship program” which helps women return back to work through training and internship after being away from the workforce for a while. 150 women walked out with the first draft of their business model canvases in their hands. Business sessions included accesses to finance, HR, Corporate communications, social media for businesses.
